Abstract
Presents an obituary for Vytautas J. Bieliauskas, who was born in Lithuania in 1920. Bieliauskas was instrumental in establishing the master’s program in psychology in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He also established the master’s program in psychology at Xavier University, in Ohio, which was later followed by a doctoral program. Ever mindful of the perils faced by occupied Lithuania, Vytautas returned to Lithuania and both taught and worked with Lithuanian psychologists to help them catch up with developments in the field and to advance psychology training to international standards.
