Description
Funeral prayer card for Paul Sweeney, 1892-1964. The front of the card contains a photograph of Father Sweeney. The back of the card contains biographical information and a prayer for the repose of his soul. The card was made by an unknown publisher. Sweeney was a professor of English and founder of the Mermaid Tavern literary club at Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio).

(back) In Memory of Rev. Paul J. Sweeney, S.J. Born June 2, 1892 Entered the Society of Jesus September 2, 1912 Ordained June 16, 1926 Died April 18, 1964 May he rest in peace. Prayer. Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that the soul of Thy servant, Paul, whom Thou hast honored in this life with the sacred functions of the Priesthood, may forever rejoice in the bliss of heaven. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
