Funeral prayer card for Eugene Shiels, 1897-1976. The front of the card contains a photograph of Father Shiels. The back of the card contains biographical information, a prayer from St. Ignatius, and a prayer for the repose of his soul. The card was made by an unknown publisher. Father Shiels was a professor of history at Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio).

(back)In Memory of Rev. W. Eugene Shiels, S.J. Born: February 2, 1987 Entered the Society of Jesus: September 11, 1916 Ordained: June 26, 1929 Died October 22, 1976 May he rest in peace. "Take, O Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and whole will. You have given me all that I am, and all that I possess. I surrender it all to you, that you may dispose of it according to your will. Gove me only your love and your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will have no more to desire." St. Ignatius. Prayer. Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that the soul of Thy servant, Eugene, whom Thou hast honored in this life with the sacred functions of the Priesthood, may forever rejoice in the bliss of heaven. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
