The English department faculty teach a wide variety of courses in literature, writing, and linguistics designed to develop students' writing and introduce them to the history and interpretation of literary genres and the theories behind interpretation. Faculty do research and produce scholarship on many specific periods and themes, including fiction and poetry as well as many genres in literature.
