Abstract
The research being conducted focuses on the concept of defense leading to championships in the NBA, and its impact on overall success in the league. The data being collected for this study includes 5 years of NBA seasons (2014-2019), creating a sample size of n = 150. Variables (13) included in the dataset are considered measures of success and statistics measuring the defensive and offensive efficiency of individual teams during the corresponding season. The five-season timespan was selected to limit changes in individual seasons that could skew data, as there have been a few shortened NBA seasons and newly implemented aspects of the league.
