Abstract
Drugs and creativity have been linked in many different cultures across many generations. Today is no exception. Within this area of study, there is little consensus on the validity of such a correlation and next to no discussion of how this perception informs people’s understanding of art. To help explore this area, we utilized a survey that examined participants' perceptions of the relationship psychoactive substances have to creative people and creativity in general. The survey seeks to illuminate any inconsistencies and variations in perceptions among the Xavier University community. In doing so, the door is opened for further research on the relationship between substance use and creativity
